Cottage Kitchen Finder — Public Content Standards
Our Purpose
Cottage Kitchen Finder (CKF) helps people discover local food producers, farmers markets, roadside stands, cottage food businesses, and other local food resources.
We welcome the personality, traditions, regional expressions, and everyday language of the communities we serve. Perfect spelling and grammar are not required.
Our goal is to maintain a useful, accurate, respectful, and family-friendly directory.
1. Appropriate Language
Public listings, product descriptions, photographs, and other submitted materials must be suitable for a general audience.
Profanity, vulgar expressions, sexually explicit language, threats, harassment, and discriminatory abuse are not permitted.
CKF may replace inappropriate wording with an accurate, acceptable alternative.
For example, an inappropriate description of rabbit fertilizer may be changed to use terms such as manure, dung, droppings, or natural fertilizer.
2. Accuracy of Information
Markets and vendors are responsible for providing accurate information about their operations, locations, schedules, products, and contact details.
CKF may investigate information received from visitors, public sources, or other contributors.
A suggested correction is not automatically considered accurate. Material factual changes will be verified before being accepted.
3. Photographs and Images
Images must be appropriate for public viewing and reasonably represent the business, market, products, or activities described.
Obscene, threatening, misleading, or otherwise inappropriate images may be removed from public display.
Contributors must have the necessary rights or permission to use uploaded images.
4. CKF’s Right to Moderate
CKF reserves the right to edit, restrict, or remove public content that violates these standards.
When practical, CKF will make a reasonable correction rather than removing an otherwise useful listing.
For material content corrections, CKF will maintain an internal record of the original content, the change made, and the reason for the change.
Affected listing owners will ordinarily be notified of material corrections and may request reconsideration.
5. Helpful Corrections and Guidance
Our first goal is education, not punishment.
When inappropriate wording is corrected, CKF may explain the reason and suggest acceptable alternatives for future use.
Repeated or deliberate violations may result in additional review, restrictions, or removal of offending content.
6. Reporting a Concern
Visitors, markets, and vendors may use Suggest an Update or contact CKF Support to report inaccurate or inappropriate content.
Reports will be reviewed and, when necessary, independently verified.
Submitting a report does not guarantee that the requested change will be made.
7. Questions or Disagreements
Market managers and vendors may contact CKF Support to ask about a correction, provide additional evidence, or request reconsideration of a moderation decision.
CKF will review reasonable requests and correct mistakes when identified.
Cottage Kitchen Finder may update these standards as the directory and its services evolve.
